If you follow our Taylor BMW blog, then you know we've been enthusiastically looking towards the new year and giving you the run-down on upcoming releases. But before saying good-bye to 2011, we'd like to take some time and highlight all the achievements that this year brought. From new BMW models to significant partnerships, the automaker certainly created some high volume chatter.
While reflecting over 2011, the release of the all-new BMW 6-Series Convertible and Coupe first popped to mind. Perhaps that's because both luxury models were given alluring style and adept performance not to mention equipped with xDrive all-wheel drive. Equally eye-catching, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe took the stage as a 340-hp powerhouse geared towards young, brand enthusiasts. Finally, the all-electric ActiveE and its following of Electronauts, collectively slated to revolutionize the meaning of power and energy-efficiency.
Moving on to manufacturing, the Bavarian luxury specialist expanded its power at Spartanburg, SC where the world's supply of X3, X5 and X6 models is now housed. Additionally, BMW united with SGL Group to open a state-of-the-art carbon-fiber manufacturing plant in Washington. Not only does this facility work to produce the ultra-light, highly desirable material but it marks one of the first partnerships between an automaker and carbon company. Lastly, the driven automaker formed the BMW Performance Team through its U.S. Olympic partnership and initiated global conversation at its BMW Guggenheim Lab in New York City.
As you can see, we don't have time to plow through each 2011 BMW success, but assure you that the list is long.
